GLASS WATER STILL

5056-Bellco Water Distiller

Listed below is information from the Bellco Glass (800.257.7043) website http://www.bellcoglass.com regarding the WATER STILL.  It is a current model with replacement parts available.

I purchased this unit for resale and do not have the necessary hoses, valves, and electrical connections for testing. I have attempted to confirm it's condition with the means I have available.   The unit is as pictured below with the following exceptions:  It does not include any type of stand, and the two stainless steel heaters are included but are not shown in the picture.  Unit is generally pretty clean but has some scale build-up in the a few crevices of the boiling chamber and on the heating elements.  However, I am not versed in the cleaning and operation of lab grade glassware.  I could not plug the heating elements into a 220 Volt outlet.   I checked them with my VOM.  They show a very low ohms reading (as a heating element should).  Should this be a major concern, I could rig a test cord and verify that they do heat up.

A thorough visual inspection indicates no chips on nicks, EXCEPT, there is an internal crack about 3/8 in. long at the top of the condenser assembly.  This hairline crack is in the outer envelope at the very top (right at the very top of the dome of the unit).  This crack does not reach the outside surface of the glass.  A technician at Bellco Glass (800.257.7043) indicates that it is OK to operate the unit with this crack.  The crack could possible enlarge at a future time.  Since it is on the outside envelope (cooling water part) it  would not contribute any impurities to the distilled water.  They offer a repair rate of $80.00 per hour and estimate the repair time to be from 1/2 to 1 hour. Any service that repairs lab glass should be able to heat and repair this defect with no problem at all.

I checked for any internal leakage or breaks on the condenser with light pressure and vacuum.  The unit is gas-tight and a visual inspection reveals no visible signs of any cracks on the steam condensing tube.

This is the dual heating element model.

Actual shipping charges are to be paid by the buyer.
